«We are against HIV/AIDS» event
On 15 November 2017 within World Aids Day, the students – volunteers of the college and «Regional centre for the prevention and control of HIV/AIDS» organized «We are against HIV/AIDS» flash mob.
Quite often, the immunodeficiency virus associated with the concept of AIDS. Actually this is incorrect, because, if a person contracts HIV, it does not mean that he has AIDS. The latest concept is much broader.
AIDS is caused by a virus called the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). If you get infected with HIV, your body will try to fight the infection. It will make "antibodies," special immune molecules the body makes to fight HIV.
What does "AIDS" mean? AIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome:
Acquired means you can get infected with it;
Immune Deficiency means a weakness in the body's system that fights diseases.
Syndrome means a group of health problems that make up a disease.
